Lord gives wisdom | One Verse
Verse: Proverbs 2:6-8

Through studying scripture together, we journey towards understanding the character of the Lord better and gain glimpses of His wisdom. Proverbs 2:6-8 encourages us to recognize that knowledge and understanding come from the Lord’s mouth. Through His Word we can gain the wisdom needed to navigate life. How refreshing is it that He has given us what we need to be successful! We don’t have to stress in times of trouble, rather we can hope and trust that he will guide us.

“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.”

Proverbs 2:6-8

In these verses, we learn that to walk with the Lord and experience his plan for us, we must strive towards a life characterized by blamelessness in a faithful pursuit of God. When facing our sinful world this could seem like an overwhelming standard. The point is not to complete a check-list of shoulds and shouldnt's, but rather to live with a humble desire to draw near to God and submit to His plans. For those who walk blamelessly, act justly and live faithfully, The Lord promises a plan beyond what we can imagine. A plan of protection in times of trouble, guidance in confusion, and grace in our shortcomings.

Self-reflection and self-awareness contribute greatly to our personal growth paving the way towards wisdom.

Take a few minutes to inventory your heart and consider the following questions:

  1. To what do you attribute wisdom? From what outlets do you seek wisdom?
  2. In a sinful world, what steps can you take to pursue an upright walk with Christ? What does it look like to strive towards blamelessness?
  3. In your community, how are you encouraging truth to your brothers and sisters in Christ?

Today, I pray that you find peace in knowing that no matter the forces against you, God has given you the wisdom to continue your journey. May you go forward receiving wisdom from the mouth of the Lord and abiding in his comforting protection. You are loved by the Almighty and He has great plans for you!
